Regardless of what heat source you choose to use with your leopard gecko, it is incredibly important that the heater is installed correctly, set with a thermostat and monitored by a thermometer. If there is any chance your reptile can reach its heater or light, you must use a safety cage to prevent your reptile from getting burned.

Though all three can be used with a leopard gecko, which one is best for your gecko and its setup? It is also worth noting that there are several other heaters on the market that can be used with leopard geckos. For example, a 35W halogen lamp is also a great choice for a gecko. Why do I use a deep heat projector?
When I first switched from a heat mat to a deep heat projector in 2019, it ruffled a few feathers, so I had to explain the science behind the deep heat projector and my reasonings for making the switch. However, in the future, I may try using a halogen lamp with my geckos either instead of a deep heat projector or paired with a deep heat projector.
