How to set up a baby or quarantine tank.
When I first got my leopard gecko, Maui, he was absolutely tiny, so I started him off in a very simple faunarium. However, once he reached 12 grams, he was big enough to move into a 2ft vivarium. This is how I set up both of his tanks.
What size tank is best?
In this video, I go through all the different tank size options for leopard geckos, as well as what size tank I use. If there’s one size I would recommend avoiding it would be a 10-gallon tank. This may be fine for a very tiny hatchling, but most geckos will benefit from far more room.
How to set up a basic tank.
If you’re just starting out and want to know how to set up a basic enclosure, making sure that you’ve covered all bases, here’s how to do it.
How I clean my tanks.
Although some reptile enclosures can be cleaned by their clean-up crew, it can be hard to maintain a clean-up crew in a leopard gecko tank, therefore the human is the biggest custodian. We must remove any poop daily, and occasionally give the tank and good clean. This is how I do it.
How to improve enrichment.
We don’t want our leopard geckos to be bored in their tanks, so how do we ensure that they are mentally and physically enriched? Well, in this video I talk you through some ways you can improve enrichment.
Enclosures I Use.
All of my leopard geckos live in 3ft long, Custom Reptile Habitat tanks, which are available in the USA - I even have my own starter kit! However, if you’re in the UK and want a similar style enclosure, I would recommend Viperia.
